What’s your name?
Meghan.
Live in? Grew up in?
Spent much of my childhood in Chicago, before moving to Chapel Hill, NC for a number of years. Now back in my hometown of Chicago!
You’re the mom of...
...our son Harrison, who turned 2 in June!
Meet Meghan and Harrison
What made you want to be more careful about things you were buying for your house or your kids? Was there an “aha” moment or specific event?
My mom taught us at an early age the value of using organic products, be it detergent, lotion, food, etc. It made sense for me to be conscious of the same things with our child because of those lessons.
What are some benefits you have seen over time, are there things that worked well for you?
Peace of mind is a major benefit. I have enough things to worry about as a new mom. Not having to constantly stress over what my child is putting on or in his body takes a load off!
Any tips you'd like to share with moms who just heard about these issues and trying to figure out the first steps?
Ask for help! I went to a lot of my mom's friends and family members for tips to make my life easier. They were always happy to share!
You’ve used UpChoose to sell back organic baby clothes that your son outgrew. Why did you decide to do it and how did you feel about that experience?
Up until about a few months ago, I didn’t want to part with Harrison’s baby clothes, because there was still a possibility of us having another child. Now we have made the decision that our family is complete with the three of us (and our dog). So I can finally let go of these precious clothes, with the exception of a few sentimental pieces. I wanted to have the opportunity to share these lovely, organic clothes, with other new moms since they should be enjoyed more than once!

What would you tell other moms who consider doing the same but like to hold on to their baby's clothes?
I’d say that holding on to a few items is a great way to go, but as your child grows, you need the space! And you are not just dropping off a bag of clothes somewhere; you are making a decision to send your clothes to a new home, for a new family to enjoy.
What’s most exciting to you about being part of the UpChoose community?
I think it’s always special to find people that can share your story, which is why mom groups are so helpful; motherhood can be very isolating and it’s necessary to know that you are not alone. UpChoose is yet another wonderful group that really reinforces the idea of a community. I need all of the help I can get!
