Meet Laura and Evie Wilder

What made you want to be more careful about things you were buying for your house or your kids? Was there an “aha” moment or specific event?

No specific event, just a gradual life shift to love myself and my family through intuitive nutrition, movement, and holistic wellness after years of being in a battle with my body. I also started to wake up to the immense impact the clothing and basically all product industry is having on our planet. Realizing how much every piece of the puzzle matters was huge for me. I want to take care of myself and my family and this planet for future generations.

How did you get started? What were the first few changes you made?

Switched to eating real foods, then skincare products, then home care and clothing.

What are some benefits you have seen over time, are there things that worked well for you?

Fertility, happiness, appreciation, and intuitive living.

Any tips you'd like to share with moms who just heard about these issues and trying to figure out first steps?

What we eat, the way we move, the products we purchase: they're all a vote for self love, for a better planet, for a healthier family. One thing at a time is ok, it's all about the journey.

You recently decided to move to a van full time with your husband and daughter. Can you tell us more about this ? What are some of the biggest adjustments you had to make? How did that affect your relationship to material possessions?

Reduce cost of living, freedom to travel the country, more time together, more time connecting, more time outside. We only buy clothing that will last, so for us fewer items that are sustainably made and super durable are worth the money. We end up saving money that way versus buying more "affordable" clothes that don't last and don't serve this planet.

You’ve used UpChoose to sell back organic baby clothes that your daughter outgrew. Why did you decide to do it and how did you feel about that experience?

The MOST sustainable way to purchase clothing is secondhand. I love that the clothes will be used again, especially because little ones grow so fast. It was a super easy and enjoyable experience. Customer service is outstanding!

What would you tell other moms who consider doing the same but like to hold on to their baby's clothes?

Get wild, change it up :) New baby, new outfits. It's fun to start "fresh" but still sustainably.

❝ I started to wake up to the immense impact the clothing and basically all product industry is having on our planet. I want to take care of myself and my family and this planet for future generations. ❞

Favorite activities or game you play with your baby?

Anything involving the outdoors. That's our happy place.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

Teleportation so I could visit the incredible friends I've made all over the country on a regular basis.

Favorite movie?

Currently: Sing.

Favorite song?

I love music too much to pick.

Dream place for a vacation?

Queenstown, New Zealand.

Favorite dish?

Currently: Golden cauliflower rice and crispy skin salmon (both on my website) with a delicious arugula and goat cheese salad (maybe because that's what we had last night).
